EOP Scholar: Jeremiah Kirkland

Jeremiah Kirkland is truly an inspiration. At the EOP banquet he told the audience how it was not always easy, but the support of his EOP family helped him to stay the course. He talked about loss during his formative years and how college was not guaranteed. Luckily, Admissions Counselor Michael Brown was there to open the door for him. EOP director Gary Owens and Graduate Counselor Mark Guthrie immensely supported Jeremiah during his time here at Brockport. Without his EOP family things could have been very different for Jeremiah. He encouraged the freshmen and sophomores in the audience to do what he did and excel in the classroom. He encouraged the audience and remarked that they, too, could one day be the “Senior Scholar.” Congratulations, Jeremiah! You truly deserve all the accolades and praise.
