Financial Aid

You will be starting your 2008/09 Financial aid application process after January 1, 2008. Make sure you work closely with your EOP counselor and your parent or guardian to complete the process in an accurate and timely fashion. The following is an outline of the process.

Proof of filing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be submitted to the EOP office by February 15, 2008. Proof of filing your FAFSA may consist of one of the following:

  • A copy of your confirmation page, which you request to be printed after you have submitted your FAFSA electronically.
  • Your FAFSA on the Web signature page with the student and parent signature (if required).
  • A completed hardcopy FAFSA that is ready to be mailed.
  • Banner/Web confirmation of FAFSA submission.

The Financial Aid Office (FAO) encourages all FAFSA filing to be done online at www.fafsa.ed.gov Please note: in order to file online, a student must use their Personal Identification Number (PIN), which can be obtained at www.pin.ed.gov. Parents are also encouraged to electronically sign the FAFSA by obtaining a pin at this site.

It is recommended that you sign your FAFSA using your PIN, if you are not able to you must print the signature page before submitting the FAFSA. You will need to provide your and your parent’s signature (if required) and submit this page to your EOP counselor for mailing.

Note: We recommend having a financial aid advisor assist you in completing the FAFSA whether you file online or mail the hardcopy. A pre-application worksheet must be completed and brought to your session with the advisor. This worksheet can be obtained from the financial aid office.

Note: Please be aware that if a dependency override was done last year, you do not complete the FAFSA electronically. You must complete the hardcopy FAFSA and form I12, both of which can be obtained from the FAO. Also, if you had a dependency override and will need it again this year, you must see a Financial Aid Advisor to sign-off on your FAFSA. This must be done before your FAFSA is mailed. An advisor is available on a walk-in basis Monday through Friday from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

The TAP application. You will be able to complete the Express TAP application (ETA) upon completion of your online FAFSA by clicking on the link that says, “if you would like to apply for New York State aid, click here.” If you do not file online, an ETA will be mailed to you by the Higher Education Service Corporation (HESC). Note: In order to receive the ETA you must be a full-time NYS resident and provide at least one NYS school on the FAFSA.

Other documents will probably be requested by the FAO once they have received your FAFSA information. Federal tax returns and W2 forms must be submitted for all EOP students if you and/or your family estimated income on the FAFSA.

*EOP CHEQUES WILL NOT BE GIVEN TO YOU UNLESS YOUR FINANCIAL AID FILE IS COMPLETED*

ATTENTION ALL EOP STUDENTS THE DECEMBER 3, 2007 CHECK WILL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL YOU PRE-REGISTER AND AFFIRM YOUR ENROLLMENT. IF YOU ARE GRADUATING THIS TERM, YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED YOUR INTENT TO GRADUATE CARD. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE TO THIS POLICY!
