Kate’s Bio
Hi ALL! My name is Kate O’Brien and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I started here in the EOP Department as an EOP Counselor in early January ’08. Since my arrival, I have had nothing but warmth and caring surrounding me as a new member of the EOP family! I am very excited to meet all of you and get to know you well.
A little bit of background on me includes- I was born and raised just outside of New Haven, CT. I graduated from Southern CT. State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. After working for several years in the field, I moved to Madison, WI. where I attended graduate school at the University of WI. and received my master’s degree in Counseling. My focus has been in higher education and career development. More recently, I returned back to graduate school at R.I.T. where I received my master’s degree in Health Systems Administration. I strongly believe that my educational experiences have and will continue to enhance my ability to better serve our EOP students.
My new role here at Brockport as an EOP counselor isn’t exactly a new position for me. In my past, I had been an EOP Counselor/Educational Coordinator at Finger Lakes Community College. From there, I mostly recently worked as The Career Services Director at Everest Institute before arriving here. Similar to my educational experiences, I believe that my former employment has helped to advance my ability and expertise to serve our EOP students.
