Andrea Rodriguez-Farewell Letter

To the EOP staff, thank you for teaching me more than I imagined, I am forever indebted to all of you. My job was not a job, but a part of me that at times would become difficult, but each of you gave me hope because in your own way I was taught that life is about how well you rise when you fall. Having people around to help you get up is a blessing; all of you are part of those blessings for me.

To the EOP students, I know you must have hear thousands of these phrases: ‘Reach for your goals,’ ‘Never be afraid,’ etc.

I don’t want to say that, what I want to tell you is this: Never forget who you are, because in the end all you have done in your college career (both professionally and personally) will be a memory that you will share with others and an experience that will outline who you will become. So make sure they are memories you will laugh about, cry for and hold dear to your heart.

Don’t sweat the small stuff and when it gets tough, just breathe. Remember that the EOP family, as touch as they may seem, are here for you. This program saw something in your application, saw something in you—the potential to achieve great things. So, my final advice is this, be brave and accomplish those great things; the EOP family will have faith in you as they have had in me.
