PEER TUTORING PROGRAM

10 TIPS FOR PREPARING FOR FINALS

Break your study time into small chunks rather than large cram sessions. You will remember more and be able to get more accomplished.
Make a check-list to organize your time and keep track of what you complete as you study.
Reviewing the check-list before an exam will boost confidence by providing concrete evidence of your exam preparation.
Use a study partner to reinforce and check for learning.
Use the library! Studying in a quiet place facilities focus and concentration and removes the distractions common to a residential space.
Create memory tools. Rhymes, mnemonics, flash cards, and jingles help with retention.
Use all your senses! Outline and summarize your reading and lecture notes – read the summaries you create – recite what you know aloud. Writing, speaking, hearing, and seeing creates a synergistic effect that increases retention.
Make it your own! Restate course material in your own words. Using your own language makes new course material more familiar, which in turn, provides helpful memory cues.
Recharge your brain! Get enough sleep so your brain can function at its maximum potential.
Use your EOP tutor and/or visit the Student Learning Center. Getting help is cool success strategy!
Build in time for yourself when your study time is completed. Reward yourself for a job well done.

Reminder to all students in Tutoring!
Any students who have received peer tutoring services this semester will need to see their counselor to complete a PEER TUTOR EVALUATION FORM.

PEER TUTOR EVALUATION FORMS are to be completed no later than Friday, May 9, 2008. It is a brief evaluation form which should only take a few minutes of your time. At EOP, our mission is to provide students with excellent services such as peer tutoring. To help us serve you better, your feedback is very important to us.
