Giving is Receiving

As we approach the holidays, I thought it important to remind each of you how important it is to be thankful.  As we move towards Thanksgiving I hope all of you will have the opportunity to share the greatest gift you have, yourself with someone else. Please give them the most precious gift you have, your time; by doing so, you will reap the benefit of having them with you.

As we quickly move towards the Christmas and New Year holidays, I hope, you will remember what the holiday symbolizes.  It’s not about all the commercialism that it’s been made out to be.  It’s really about giving.  Each of us has had the benefit of receiving this gift called opportunity.  The EOP program and The College at Brockport are opportunities for a degree in higher education and a new life, that we didn’t have to receive but we did.  Now I am asking each of you to give back a little.  There are those who are not as blessed, whose holidays may not be as fulfilling and  joyful as yours or mine.  So I am asking each and every one of you to give to the Holiday Helping Hands.  Let us learn to give so that someone else and their children may have a little more joy.  Spread a bit of cheer and joy to someone else this season. Now let me remind all of you that we are now in what I call crunch time.  There are less than three weeks before the fall semester will come to an end.  It is important that you are focused and ready to end this semester in a responsible and diligent manner.  That last paper can make the difference.  Taking the time to really stay home and concentrate on that final exam is what crunch time is all about.  So stay at it, push yourself and do the best you can.  Then have a safe and wonderful holiday and a relaxing semester break.
