Dr. Ali Jafari - Indiana University - Purdue University of Indianapolis

Ali Jafari - IUPUI: Dr. Jafari is a professor of Computer and Information Technology, Adjunct Professor of Informatics, and Director of the CyberLab at IUPUI. His research focuses on smart learning environments and intelligent agents both from conceptual and architectural perspectives. He is currently working on the Next Generation of Course Management System (NGCMS) research project and the Epsilen Environment being developed at the CyberLab.

Dr. John Ittelson - California State University at Monterey Bay

John Ittelson - CSUMB: Dr. Ittelson is a Professor in the School of Information Technology and Communications Design and Director of the Interactive Design and Educational Applications Lab (The I.D.E.A. Lab) at California State University, Monterey Bay. One of the founding faculty at CSUMB, John was also one of two EDUCAUSE National Learning Infrastructure (NLII) fellows in 2001, an appointment that allowed him to travel across the country to work with educators on e-learning ventures. John currently serves as the Principal Investigator for the MarcoPolo Project, an organization that focuses on bringing high quality, standards-based Internet content to K-12 classrooms. He is also working with the CSU Chancellor’s Office as the liaison to the CA K-12 High Speed Network and is involved in the e-portfolio movement and in encouraging the CSUs to become more active in implementing e-portfolios.

John’s research paper, “An Over-view of e-portfolios,” co-authored with George Lorenzo, was one of the top downloads from the EDUCAUSE Web site during 2005. Dr. Ittelson has been selected as an Apple Distinguished Educator for the past five years and is actively involved in the building of Apple’s Campus Digital Exchange, an online community focusing on technology in higher education. Dr. Ittelson serves on the Boards of the CSU Virtual Language Lab project and Access Monterey Peninsula Cable Consortium and on the Program Committee for The Digital Stream Conference.

Dr. Ittelson received a Bachelor’s degree in Radio-Television-Film, a Master’s Degree in Instructional Television, and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Instructional Design from Northwestern University.


Glenn Johnson - Penn State University

Glenn Johnson - PSU: Glenn currently serves as instructional designer and project manager for Penn State's e-Portfolio Initiative, a university-wide initiative that was launched in the Spring of 2002. While administratively he is housed in the College of Earth and Mineral Science's e-Education Institute, his position is currently funded in part by both Information Technology Services and the Division of Student Affairs.  In this position, Glenn works to identify and collaboratively support faculty, students and staff who have expressed interest in student e-Portfolios for the purposes of helping students use their Penn State Personal Web Space to plan, reflect upon and publish what they have learned at Penn State.

Mary Hallett - Monroe Community College

Mary Hallett - MCC: Mary Hallett is a Training/Instructional Development Specialist at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY. Her professional responsibilities include supporting 100+ faculty in the development of hybrid and web-enhanced courses, supporting SUNY with their home-grown CMS, and managing new initiatives like open source and e-portfolios. After conducting extensive research, attending the OSPI Conference last year, and implementing e-portfolio pilots this year, I greatly look forward to this year’s conference and the future of open source locally, nationally and world-wide.

Eric Feinblatt - FIT Eric Feinblatt - FIT: Eric Feinblatt has been the Coordinator of FIT's Center for Excellence in Teaching since its origins in 2001. He is responsible for instructional development at the College where he works closely with other faculty members to develop, use and assess effective instructional and curricular strategies to improve student learning. Since his arrival at the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1997, Professor Feinblatt has been an advisor to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Deans of the Schools of Business and Technology and Art and Design, helping them to formulate and initiate programs that leverage technology's potential to enhance FIT's educational mission.

Eric is a frequent presenter at educational conferences, most recently as a panelist at the Small Tools/Big Ideas conference at FIT, the 2005 SUNY-wide Conference on Instructional Technologies where he spoke on the "Classroom Without Walls" and the "Image Library as Learning Environment," and at the 2005 CUNY/Baruch College Technology Conference where he gave a talk entitled "Visual Literacy: Preparing Faculty to Think about Thinking about Images."

Prior to coming to FIT, Professor Feinblatt launched the Photography specialization in the Extended Studies Program at the Cooper Union in New York City. He continues to teach undergraduate and graduate classes at FIT, including a graduate course in e-portfolio development, and is a member of the SUNY FACT (Faculty Access to Computer Technology) Advisory Council.

David Koretz - Founder & CEO, BlueTie, Inc.

David Koretz - BlueTie, Inc.: David Koretz founded BlueTie in March 1999. As its President and CEO, Mr. Koretz leads the Company's vision, strategy, product development and continued growth. Under his leadership, BlueTie has received many prestigious awards, including being named a Forbes Magazine "Best of the Web" company three years in a row, one of the top 4 websites in the world for small businesses. Mr. Koretz' strategy and vision have also led the company to listing in William Blair's B2B book of the top privately held companies in the US, selection for the Hewlett Packard Garage Program, and receipt of the prestigious Hewlett Packard Success Story award.

Prior to founding BlueTie, he served as CEO of several companies, including Network Marketing International, which during his tenure became the world's first Internet-based sales lead company. Mr. Koretz has been featured in hundreds of television, radio, and print features highlighting his successes and entrepreneurial spirit. Mr. Koretz is also the author of several patents in the area of email messaging and collaborative technology. A native of Rochester, N.Y., Mr. Koretz currently serves as Chairman of the University of Rochester Medical Center Venture Development Board, a Board Member of the RIT Incubator, and President of the Rochester Angel Investment Network.

Yolanda M. Owens - Bausch & Lomb: Yolanda M. Owens currently serves as the College Relations Specialist for Bausch & Lomb where she coordinates the College Relations, College Internship, and high school Summer Youth Programs.  Prior to joining Bausch & Lomb in 2001, Ms. Owens spent six years as the Assistant Director of Admissions and Coordinator of Multicultural Recruitment at SUNY Geneseo and St. Bonaventure University.  In addition, Ms. Owens has held positions as a HEOP counselor, financial underwriter, and elementary teacher.

Tom Proietti - Monroe Community College
Tom Proietti - Monroe Community College : Tom Proietti is Professor of Communication at Monroe Community College.  He is a former advertising and cable tv executive who spent nearly five years with Time Warner Communications/Greater Rochester Cablevision as Vice President of Marketing and Programming.

He was the founder of the Communication/Journalism Program at St. John Fisher College where he taught for 10 years.  He is still a part-time member of the Fisher faculty.

He is a graduate of the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University where he received his Master of Science degree in radio/tv/film and a former radio, tv and newspaper journalist. He has also been a long-time advocate for media literacy.

Proietti is a founding member of the Little Theatre Film Society and is currently President of the Board of Directors.  He is also a monthly commentator on media issues on WXXI-AM’s 1370 Connection as well as a frequent consultant on media issues in local, regional and national media.
