Curriculum Overview

This major prepares students to compete, not only in meteorological fields, but in related fields such as environmental science, computer science, hydrology or alternative energy utilization.  This program meets the federal guidelines for meteorologists, enabling graduates to begin careers in federal, state and private employment. 

RequirementsWx Balloon Launch

Meteorology majors must earn a minimum of 42 credits in meteorology and complete one year of calculus-based physics with laboratory; two semesters of calculus, differential equations, and one semester of chemistry.  Additional supporting work in the sciences and mathematics is strongly recommended. 

To make normal progress toward the degree, students should take ESC 350 and ESC 391 in the junior year, and ESC 494 and ESC 495 in the senior year.
