The College at Brockport Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) will host the sixth annual "Teaching and Learning Day" on Wednesday, January 22 from 8:30 am - 4 pm in the New York Room, Cooper Hall with breakfast and lunch provided.
The event will feature presentations by Brockport faculty on techniques, ideas, and reflections related to teaching and learning. The keynote speaker is Dr. Peggy Maki, nationally recognized expert on learning and assessment.

Assessing Student Writing Across the Disciplines
In this session, members of the Learning to Write/Writing to Learn Project will introduce a rubric designed to evaluate writing in a wide variety of disciplines. Participants will test-drive the rubric with a scoring session using a sample of Brockport student writing. Our goal is to identify strengths and weaknesses in individual student writing samples.
Creating Meaningful Writing Assignments Across the Disciplines Workshop with Peggy Maki (registration resticted to those who RSVP for the first workshop in the morning)

In this follow-up session, participants will explore how their writing assignments can nurture college-level student writing. Participants are invited to bring their own writing assignments to work on during the session or to share for feedback.
Workshop is resticted to those who attended the first workshop in the morning.
