Tip 1 |
Get a PIN. Before filing your FAFSA on the Web
application, we recommend that you (and one of your parents) apply for a PIN
at www.pin.ed.gov. Your FAFSA will be processed faster if you
sign using a PIN. |
|
Tip 2 |
Print the Pre-Application Worksheet. The FAFSA on the Web Worksheet allows you
to read and complete the questions before entering your information on line.
The questions are listed in the same order as they appear on the Web site. |
|
Tip 3 |
Save Your FAFSA. Save your application often using the
“Save” button at the bottom of each screen.
If you lose your Internet connection, you can return to the FAFSA you
already started. NOTE: Clicking the “Exit”
button, will close your application and erase all the information you entered
since the last time you saved it. |
|
Tip 4 |
Help. For questions regarding problems or
difficulties using the FAFSA on the Web or specific questions, call
1-800-4-FED-AID. The “Need Help with
this Page?” button at the bottom of every online FAFSA page will help you
complete that page. The “Help” button
has a complete index of help topics.
The Live help button will allow you to chat with a Customer Service
representative. |
|
Tip 5 |
Sign Your Application. Your PIN will allow you to electronically
sign your FAFSA. Otherwise, you must
print, sign and mail the signature page.
If you are dependent, a parent must sign your FAFSA as well. Your parent(s) can sign either by using
his/her own PIN or by mailing in a signed signature page. |
|
Tip 6 |
Submit Your Application. Click the “Submit” button located on the
very last page of the online FAFSA.
You’ll receive a confirmation number that confirms your FAFSA
submission. |
|
Tip 7 |
TAP-Tuition Assistance Program. Please remember to follow the
link on the last page of the online FAFSA to file the electronic TAP
application. |
