Raising the Bar
President John R. Halstead and Mrs. Kathy Halstead have demonstrated their leadership and commitment to the College with the creation of two endowed scholarships to assist students.
The Halstead’s gift is the largest cash gift by a faculty or staff member in the history of the College.
The John R. Halstead Family Leadership in Higher Education Award will support an outstanding junior or senior who demonstrates academic excellence, leadership skills through service to the College and/or community and aspires to a career in student development or higher education.
The John R. and Kathleen A. Halstead Scholarship will support a freshman who demonstrates strong academic achievement and leadership skills through service to the College and/or community. Preference for this scholarship will be given to first-generation college students.
“John and Kathy have generously committed to this substantial leadership gift, which will have a long-term impact on the scholarship recipients,” said Roxanne Johnston, vice president for advancement and president of the Brockport Foundation. “It’s a continuation of their giving since day one at the College.”
