Three Scholarships in Honor of Family and a Dear Friend
Roxanne Johnston, vice president for advancement and president of the Brockport Foundation, and her husband, John, have created three scholarships in honor of family members and a dear friend.
The Rosemary and Francis Fugle Scholarship honor Roxanne’s parents, who reside in Livonia, N.Y. The Steven C. Fugle Memorial Scholarship is in memory of Roxanne’s late brother, Steven C. Fugle. These scholarships will support outstanding undergraduate students who demonstrate a solid academic record, a high degree of self-motivation and a record of service to others. Preference will be given to a Livingston County student.
The Gary D. Root Memorial Scholarship will pay tribute to the late Root, who was a dear friend of the Johnstons. Preference will be given to graduates of York Central or Geneseo Central High School.
Roxanne Johnston, who has headed up the Division of Advancement for the College since 2006 and, said she couldn’t be more delighted with the opportunity to turn the tables and act as philanthropist.
“Creating these scholarships was our way to give back to the College, which has given me so much,” she said. “Through our philanthropy, John and I are able help Brockport students while honoring my parents and memorializing my brother and our dear friend at the same time.”Brockport Foundation
