Foundation Board Chair Diane McCue finalist for ATHENA Award

Brockport Foundation Board Chair Diane McCue ’77 was one of 15 finalists for this year’s ATHENA Award in Rochester.

The Rochester Business Alliance’s Women’s Council named 15 finalists for the 2012 ATHENA Award, given to a woman demonstrating significant achievements in business, community service and the professional advancement of women.

The 26th annual awards luncheon was held Jan. 19 at a luncheon at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

McCue, retired general manager and corporate vice president, printing plates division, Eastman Kodak Co., was nominated by Brockport Foundation President Roxanne Johnston.

The Rochester Business Alliance, in its write-up of the nominees, wrote this about Diane’s nomination:

“Embodies the tenet of celebration and joy. Having just retired after more than 31 years with Eastman Kodak Co. Diane revels in helping others achieve success. In 2002, Diane and her husband Gerry established a fund at The College of Brockport that supports the education of young women by providing full tuition for four years to each annual recipient. Finding out one year that twins both qualified, Diane opted to select both women as recipients, covering both tuitions for all four years of college. After receiving her degree in 2010, another award recipient elected to attend graduate school at Brockport and Diane and Gerry graciously offered to pay for the additional year. Diane’s generosity in making sure that young women have an opportunity to attend college and succeed is simply unparalleled.”

The award was inspired by the goddess of Greek mythology known for her strength, courage, wisdom and enlightenment.
