Endowed Scholarship for Study Abroad
Dr. William and Annette Rock have created an endowed scholarship to assist students to study abroad.
The William C. and Annette L. Rock Study Abroad Scholarship in the Liberal Arts will provide awards to students in the School of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences who are undertaking study abroad experiences.
A distinguished service professor emeritus of the department of educational administration at Brockport, Bill served on the faculty from 1968 through 1995. In 2001, Bill established the Annette Lamphier Rock Nursing Scholarship in honor of his wife, a lifelong nurse. The Rocks reside in Brockport.
In addition to their contributions to Brockport, Bill and Anne have established endowed funds at three other SUNY colleges and university centers because of their strong belief in public higher education.
“This is the second endowed fund we have created at Brockport, and the sixth fund we have created within SUNY,” said Bill. “We have created all of these funds because of our strong belief in public higher education and the need for increased private support as state support is dwindling.”
Annette said this is the third study abroad scholarship they have created in SUNY.
“We believe study abroad is essential to a complete undergraduate education in an increasingly global economy and are pleased that our funds encourage and help students to have this experience,” said Annette.
