The Marguerite Hare Browne Professional Education Awards and Scholarships

The Marguerite Hare Browne Professional Education Awards and Scholarships have been recognizing outstanding students and educators for 25 years. Named for Brockport professor emeritus Peg Browne, these scholarships honor her dedication and commitment to excellence in education.

To celebrate Peg’s legacy, the College is hosting the Marguerite Hare Browne Professional Education Awards and Scholarships Gala Dinner on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the Airport Marriott in Greece.

We are also asking colleagues, alumni, friends, and past scholarship recipients to consider making a gift to the Marguerite Hare Browne Scholarships in honor of Peg to allow the fund to support outstanding young scholars in perpetuity.

About the Scholarships

The Peg Browne Scholarship Sequence is awarded annually to an outstanding Greece High School student (the Peg Browne Scholar) who is entering a program at The College of Brockport leading to teacher certification. This single scholarship has developed into a four-year series of potential scholarship awards, now known as The Peg Browne Scholarship Sequence. As the Peg Browne Scholar successfully progresses through the certification program, he or she becomes eligible for the next scholarship.

The Marguerite Hare Browne Greece High School Senior Scholarship supports an outstanding Greece High School senior preparing for a career in education for the first year at The College at Brockport.
The Fred Dean Scholarship continues support for the Peg Browne Scholar entering the second year of study in education at The College at Brockport.
The Rose R. Rock Scholarship continues support for the Peg Browne Scholar entering the third year of study in education at The College at Brockport.
The Marguerite Hare Browne Scholarship continues support for the Peg Browne Scholar entering the fourth year of study in education at The College at Brockport.
The Marguerite Hare Browne Graduate Scholarship supports the Marguerite Hare Browne Scholar who has completed an undergraduate degree and is entering a master’s degree program in education at the College.

Other Marguerite Hare Browne Professional Education Awards and Scholarships recognize outstanding student teachers, Greece teachers and administrators, and organizations that demonstrate a commitment to education.
