The Gloria Mattera Heritage Society
Changing lives one student at a time.
The Gloria Mattera Heritage Society at SUNY Brockport honors the memory and work of a talented and generous alumna. Its membership includes all individuals who have made the same thoughtful and far-sighted provision for support of the College.
Through their gifts, members of the Gloria Mattera Heritage Society enlarge their legacy to future generations of SUNY Brockport students by supporting: student scholarships and awards; faculty development; lectures and academic initiatives; campus beautification; intercollegiate athletics and co-curricular activities; provisions for equipment or technology. All help shape a more extraordinary Brockport experience for our students.
We invite our loyal alumni and friends of SUNY Brockport to join the Gloria Mattera Heritage Society. It recognizes individuals who record bequests, establish trusts, name SUNY Brockport as the beneficiary of pension funds, life insurance, or IRAs or create an income-producing planned gift.
You can provide for Brockport in your will with:
- a general bequest of a specified dollar amount or a percentage of your estate
- a specific bequest of a particular asset, such as real property or securities
- a contingent bequest, if your primary beneficiaries fail to survive you
If your current will does not include SUNY Brockport, you can add to it easily through a codicil. Your attorney will be able to advise you, and we will gladly provide sample language.
Life income plans
are another means by which you can support SUNY Brockport and, at the same time, create lifetime income for you and a loved one.
A charitable gift annuity is a simple plan that allows you to:
- realize your desire to support SUNY Brockport
- create a lifelong income stream
- claim income and estate tax deductions
- convert low-yield securities or other property to a form of investment with a better, and guaranteed, yield
- make a gift of long-term appreciated securities without paying capital gains tax
- allay your investment concerns
Society membership recognizes individuals who record bequests, establish trusts, name SUNY Brockport as the beneficiary of life insurance, IRAs or pension funds, or create an income-producing planned gift. Members of the Gloria Mattera Heritage Society are honored at an annual luncheon where they receive a certificate and distinctive pin. They are also recognized in College publications such as Kaleidoscope. Many gifts made by Society members present naming opportunities to honor the donor, a spouse, other family members or a beloved faculty/staff member.
If you have already made a provision in your will for future support of SUNY Brockport, we will be honored to acknowledge your generosity. We also look forward to learning more about your interests and how you wish to shape your legacy for future generations of SUNY Brockport students.
