Motives for College Students to Indoor Tan

In the United States there has been an increase in the use of indoor tanning among college students. The purpose of this study is to explore the sociocultural influences and appearance reasons to tan among college students. A sample of convenience of approximately thirty students will be selected from undergraduate and graduate classes from a mid-sized comprehensive college in Western NY. The survey will consist of questions that will reflect on the sociocultural influences and attitude towards appearance of tanning. The statistical analysis includes descriptive statistic indicating the percentage of what motivates college students to indoor tan. Predictions will indicate that college studentís generally indoor tan for appearance reasons.
