The Master's Level Graduate Research Conference is supported by the Office of Graduate Studies.
This performance/lecture explores the process of building and releasing tension in concert dance. It begins with a lecture which conceptually identifies various theories of tension in performance art including music, visual art, theater, and dance. This lecture also includes personal anecdotes and discoveries regarding this topic in relation to choreography. The lecture leads into a dance performance entitled "Fair and Balanced" which, along with the music, embodies these concepts of tension. Choreographer: Matthew Frazier-Smith, Dancers: Erin Lowden, Lara Nixon, Heather Kleinschmidt. Musician: Greg Ketchum
