The Master's Level Graduate Research Conference is supported by the Office of Graduate Studies.
With an estimated 17-37 million people experiencing sexual disorder symptoms, the following paper attempts to explore practitioner attitudes and knowledge regarding sexual disorders, and more specifically sexual addiction. A conference was conducted in Rochester, NY by Dr. Patrick Carnes, a leading expert in the field of sexual addiction. After the conference, a survey was sent to participants, to gather information for analysis. After analyzing data, it is clear that various practioners are interested in furthering their knowledge of sexual disorders and sexual addiction. Participants stated they learned several different practice skills to be implemented in their own practices. This paper attempts to identify gaps in the literature related to sexual addiction and to identify how professional discipline correlates to sexual addiction treatment.
