2013 Master's Level Graduate Research Conference

Session I - Session II - Session III

How Much Should it Cost for a Non-custodial Parent to have Visitation with Their Child?

This research study is being conducted due to the extended period of time that non-custodial parents are placed on a wait list to see their child(ren) for supervised visitation in America. The purpose of this research is to explore if non-custodial parents would be willing to pay a fee for supervised visitation services and how they feel about paying this fee if it would decrease the amount of time that they would be on the waitlist. The researcher’s explored how the time wait impacted the non-custodial parent and the child(ren). A concurrent mixed method design was used to create a survey tool which was mailed out to all non-custodial parents that are currently on the waiting list for supervised visitation at The Society for the Protection and Care of Children (SPCC). The surveys were mailed out by SPCC to keep all participants contact information confidential. Bivariate analysis and grounded theory methods will be utilized to analyze the data collected in the surveys.
