2013 Master's Level Graduate Research Conference

Session I - Session II - Session III

Role of Classroom Aides in the Literacy Classroom

What roles do classroom aides have in an elementary classroom? As a researcher, I seek to examine how children develop skills of dependence and/or independence that may come from allowing a teacher aide to be included in a literacy classroom environment. Teaching is a never ending job that involves long hours of work and dedication to assure a student’s success in the learning process. Research methods including observations, interviews of teachers and teacher aids and a comparison of methods of children taught in a setting with assistance of an aide, verses test results of children placed in a room without an aide, will be used to answer the question. As a researcher it is very important to identify the impact of an aide included in a classroom environment.
