Non-degree Seeking Students
Non-degree (non-matriculated) Status
Non-matriculated students are those individuals who:
- have earned a baccalaureate degree and fulfilled the prerequisites for the courses in which they wish to enroll;
- do not wish to pursue a degree but who, for their own interest, wish to enroll in graduate-level courses; and
- intend to seek admission to a graduate program, but have not yet completed admissions requirements.
Non-matriculated graduate students wishing to enroll for the first time are required to submit a non-degree application, along with the required $25 fee, to the Office of Graduate Admissions. For further assistance please call the Office of Graduate Admissions at (585) 395-5465. This application should only be used for non-degree status. If you are interested in taking summer or winter courses only, please call the Special Sessions Office at (585) 395-5720..
Application for Non-degree Status (Non-matriculated)
Students interested in taking courses as a non-matriculated graduate student may apply directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions. Application for non-degree status requires that the applicant complete a brief application, pay a one-time $25 application fee and submit an official transcript documenting that the applicant holds a baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution. If a transcript is not available at the time of registration, applicants will be given 30 days from the first day of classes to provide one.
Students who plan to later apply for admission to a graduate program should consult with the department before engaging in non-matriculated graduate study. Only a limited number of transfer credits and/or credits completed on a non-matriculated basis can be applied towards a Plan of Study.
