New Student Packet

Congratulations and welcome to graduate studies at The College at Brockport. We have created this online new student packet to ensure a smooth transition to The College at Brockport. Please bookmark this page as the information posted here will be beneficial to you both now and in the future.

BannerID / NetID / Email - Used when conducting business with the college

You will need to know your Brockport e-mail address as official communication from the college will be delivered to this e-mail address. You will also need to know your BannerID. Please be sure to save this number and use it in place of your social security number when conducting business with the college. Lastly you will need to know your NetID to access computing resources at The College at Brockport. Information explaining how to obtain this information follows:
1. Go to www.brockport.edu/bounce/cislogon and logon or Select online services, then click Campus Information System.
2. Enter your BannerID and Pin.
3. Click Personal Information.
4. Click View E-mail Address.
5. Click Back
6. Click SUNY Brockport NetID information and password reset.

Documentation regarding your NetID(www.brockport.edu/its/netid.html) and your BannerID (www.brockport.edu/its/itss/docs/banner/id.html) is available on the Web.

Course Schedule

The Course Schedule is available on the Web. On the Brockport home page:

  1. Select 'Online Services',
  2. Select 'Course Schedule', and
  3. Finally, select a term (i.e. Spring 2010).

The online course schedule provides up-to-date information on the number of seats available in each course. Please note that enrollment in selected courses may be limited to matriculated students and/or may require departmental approval.

Registration

Once you have selected a course, you may register online using the online registration system.  On the Brockport home page:

  1. Select 'Online Services',
  2. Select 'Campus Information System',
  3. Login into the system using your Banner ID,
  4. Select 'Student Service & Financial Aid',
  5. Finally, select Registration.

ALL students will need to go online and 'affirm enrollment and accept financial responsibility' on the Enrollment Agreement screen to reserve their courses. Instructions are available on the Web at www.brockport.edu/registrar/faq.

Graduate Policy

The policies listed on the graduate student policies page pertain specifically to both matriculated and non-degree students enrolled in graduate courses at The College at Brockport. However, graduate students should carefully note that there are also policies listed in other categories that apply to all students at the College, including graduate students. For example, the Grade Appeal Policy, found under the "Academic Policies" category, is applicable to all students. It is, therefore, strongly recommended that graduate students review these other policy sections.

Student Health Center - Immunization Records and Health Insurance

  1. Immunization Records

    Before classes begin, you must provide the Student Health Center with Official Proof of your immunization records which are required by NYS Public Health Law for students taking six (6) or more credits.  The medical evaluation form is available for you on the Health Center web site at www.brockport.edu/healthctr/forms.html.

  2. Health Insurance

    Health Insurance coverage is mandatory for full-time students taking twelve (12) or more credit hours.  Please refer to the Health Center web site for further information at www.brockport.edu/healthctr/insurance.html.

ANGEL

ANGEL is a Learning Management System (LMS) that has been used at The College at Brockport since 2000. It is a web-based software program that enables students to access material posted by faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants. ANGEL may be used in any academic discipline and it is also used extensively for communication within majors and minors groups and by academic advisors. Barnes and Noble Bookstore

Get your textbooks, both new and used, and your College at Brockport gear the at Barnes and Noble Bookstore. The online order form is available on the web site at: Barnes and Noble web site.

Campus Parking

If you are planning to park on the College at Brockport campus, you will need to purchase a parking permit. The parking permit e-form along with other important information is available on the Parking Services web site at www.basc1.com/parking/.

Drake Memorial Library

As a graduate student at The College at Brockport, the Drake Memorial Library offers you numerous services. You have access to over 90 databases and the ability to borrow books and full-text articles from other libraries for your research needs. You also have access to a librarian via phone at (585) 395-2760, email at AskDrake, or Instant Messenger (screen name = DrakeRef). The MetroCenter now has its own satellite library and librarian. Contact Linda Hacker by phone at (585) 395-8476 or by email at lhacker@brockport.edu for personal assistance with any of your research needs.

Eagle One ID Cards - Official University Identification

Your Eagle One ID Card is your official university identification. You'll use it as your library card, for vending machines, to buy books, to get in to sporting events, and much, much more. To obtain you ID card you must go in person to the Dining Services Office on the first floor of Brockway Hall.   For more information visit the Basc web site at www.basc1.com/ID_Cards/index.htm.

Easy Money / Dining Services

Brockport Auxiliary Service Corporation (BASC) has created some great meal plans for our commuter students.  For more information visit the BASC web site at: www.basc1.com/ and select dining services.  You may also choose to use the Easy Money Debit Card Program.  Easy Money is accessed via your Eagle One College ID card and let’s you purchase virtually everything you need both on and off campus.

Office for Students with Disabilities

The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) provides support and assistance to self-identifies students with disabilities. Among the services provided are those related to accessibility of campus facilities, reasonable accommodations, advocacy for student needs and referral to appropriate governmental and community agencies. Veterans Affairs Office

The Veterans Affairs Office at The College at Brockport is here to provide information about the veterans educational benefits available to veterans and children of veterans who plan on attending The College at Brockport. Information such as U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs programs, how to request a military transcript, grants and scholarships, and institutional benefits such as bill deferrals and parking discounts.
