Flu and Vaccine Information for the Brockport Campus Community
H1N1 flu vaccine (both nasal spray and injection) has arrived in the Health Center. There are approximately 400 doses available of the 3000 that were ordered.
A vaccine clinic will be offered for students in the Seymour Union Ballroom on Tuesday November 10th, from 10 am until the vaccine supply is depleted.
We anticipate receiving additional vaccine sometime in the next month.
The campus has seen a significant increase in influenza-like illness. We assume this is H1N1 since the seasonal flu is not yet in circulation.
Students with flu symptoms should do the following:
- Contact the Student Health Center by phone at 585 395 2414. We will help you make a plan.
- Stay in your residence or go home.
- Do not attend classes, work, student teaching, internships…again, stay home!
- Contact your professors to inform them that you are sick. Your academic work plan will be arranged between you and your professors. Having flu does not exempt you from course work.
- If you live on campus, discuss with your RA or RD how to get a “sick slip” for meals. Ask a friend (flu buddy) to bring you fluids like juice, tea, soup.
Faculty and Staff who have flu symptoms should do the following:
- Stay home.
- Call your health care provider if your symptoms are severe or if you have risk factors
- Call your supervisor or chairperson..
- Do not report for work, classes or other assignments.
- Supervisors or chairs should contact Debbie Thompson in Payroll Office at 395-2744 to report staff who are absent due to flu or ill family members.
