Program History

The Honors Program at SUNY Brockport was formally established in 1974 to meet the needs of intellectually motivated students with superior academic ability. From the very beginning, the program sought to create a stimulating learning environment that was flexible enough to serve the academic and personal goals of Honors students from a wide variety of academic majors. Over the past thirty years, the Honors Program has evolved into a thriving community of students and faculty who share in a common commitment to the pursuit of academic excellence and personal growth. Currently, the program has more than three hundred students enrolled in every academic major across the campus.
