Summer Health Coverage for Part Time Adjuncts and Graduate/Teaching Assistants
*Summer health coverage payments are taken in additional deductions from Spring paychecks.
Part Time Adjuncts:
- Academic Employees are entitled to either 13 or 26 payroll periods
of full health coverage at the employee share of health cost.
- Employees who work one semester during the academic year receive 13 payroll periods of coverage, employees who work both semesters have a 26 payroll period entitlement.

The thirteen or 26 pay period entitlement begins from the effective date of your coverage
- Example #1 Spring semester hire , 13 paryoll period entitlement
:Hire date: 1/2/02
Effective date of coverage: 2/13/02 (42 day wait for new employees)
Entitlement of 13 payroll periods of coverage will make the termination of health insurance effective 8/13/03 at close of business. - Example #2 Fall semester hire, works two semesters, 26 payroll
period entitlement, returning employee for following Fall:
Hire date: 8/19/02
Effective date of coverage: 9/30/02
No break in covergage- Example #3 Fall semester hire, works two semesters, 26 payroll
period entitlement, employee not returning for following Fall:
Hire date: 8/19/02
Effective date of coverage: 9/30/02
Entitlement of 26 payroll periods of coverage will make the termination of health insurance effective 9/24/03
Graduate and Teaching Assistants:
- Example #1 Spring semester hire , 13 paryoll period entitlement
- Graduate and Teaching Assistants have summer coverage available to them providing they expect to return to the payroll in the Fall of the following academic year.
