Eligibility Regulations for New York State Health Insurance (NYSHIP)

 

*Note: Temporary and Hourly appointments may be eligible for health insurance coverage upon Appointment Specifics by the Office of Human Resources

UUP Employees (non-teaching professional)

  • Be expected to work at least six biweekly payroll periods. If you are hired as a seasonal employee, you must be expected to work at least six months
  • Not already be enrolled in NYSHIP as an employee. If you are covered under the program as a dependent of your spouse, and you are eligible for your own coverage in NYSHIP, you and your spouse may choose one Family coverage or you may each have Individual coverage or you may have one Family coverage and one Individual coverage
  • July 2, 2008 - July 1, 2009 expected earnings of $12,948.00
  • July 2, 2009 - July 1, 2010 expected earnings of $13,337.00
  • July 2, 2010 - July 1, 2011 expected earnings of $13,870.00

UUP Employees (faculty)

  • Must teach at least two or more courses during the Fall or Spring Semesters

CSEA Employees

  • Be expected to work at least six biweekly payroll periods. If you are hired as a seasonal employee, you must be expected to work at least six months
  • Not already be enrolled in NYSHIP as an employee. If you are covered under the program as a dependent of your spouse, and you are eligible for your own coverage in NYSHIP, you and your spouse may choose one Family coverage or you may each have Individual coverage or you may have one Family coverage and one Individual coverage
  • Administrative Unit: must work at least half time (18.75 hours)
  • Operational Services Unit: must work at least half time (20 hours)

PEF, NYSCOPBA, COUNCIL 82, and Management Confidential Employees

  • Be expected to work at least six biweekly payroll periods. If you are hired as a seasonal employee, you must be expected to work at least six months
  • Not already be enrolled in NYSHIP as an employee. If you are covered under the program as a dependent of your spouse, and you are eligible for your own coverage in NYSHIP, you and your spouse may choose one Family coverage or you may each have Individual coverage or you may have one Family coverage and one Individual coverage
  • Must work at least half time (18.75 hours)
