Health Insurance After Retirement (General Items
of Interest)
- Health insurance transactions/changes/questions are handled by the
Employee Benefits Division in Albany
- Your health insurance premium will continue to be that of an active
employee (depending on the plan an estimated 10% of the total cost
for single coverage and 75% of the difference between the total cost
for family coverage)
- Up to 200 sick days will be calculated into a monthly dollar value that
is applied against your monthly health insurance premium for life (see Estimating
Your Sick Leave Credit)
- Your health insurance coverage does not diminish after retirement
or when you reach age 65
- You MUST be enrolled in Medicare when you reach age 65, at which
point you will be reimbursed for Medicare Part B (see section on Medicare)
