2015 Discretionary Salary Award (DSA) Guidelines

Eligibility for DSA:
Full-time employees are eligible for a DSA if they were employed by the College in the professional services negotiating unit represented by UUP on June 30, 2015.

Part-time employees are eligible for a DSA if they were employed by the College in the professional services negotiating unit represented by UUP and they meet the following criteria: 1.) on payroll as of April 30, 2015, 2.) their employment terminated prior to July 1, 2015, and 3.) they are active at the time of the DSA payment which is December 16, 2015. 

Any UUP represented employee who has separated from the College or is on a leave without pay at the time of payment is not eligible for the award.

Nominations:
Employees may be nominated by their supervisor or may self-nominate.

Nominations for Professional Employees
Nominations must include a performance evaluation covering the period 7/1/2014 to 6/30/2015 with a cover letter, or, if necessary, with a DSA justification (maximum of 2 additional typewritten pages). Nominations are based on performance and should be submitted to Unit Heads.

Unit Heads will review the nominations, rank them in a priority order, and forward them to a review committee designated by each VP.  The review committee will review and rank all of the nominations for a VP’s area and submit the nominations to their VP for final action. The VPs will advise their committee of the DSA pool amount available to their division. 

Nominations for Academic Employees
Full-time faculty may direct their questions regarding the DSA process to their deans’ offices.

Full-time Employee Award Amounts:
Per the recommendation of the Professional Roles and Rewards Committee, the minimum award for professional employees will be $500. Academic employees may receive awards in the amount of $400, $500, or $600. 

Part-time Employee Award Amounts:
Human Resources will calculate part-time employees’ DSAs. The awards will be made across the board proportional to appointment percentage (full-time equivalency status).

Payment:
The awards will be paid in paychecks dated December 16, 2015.
