The objective of University Police is the protection of the lives and property of the students, employees and campus visitors of the State University College at Brockport. This objective is pursued within the framework of the State University of New York rules and regulations and all local, state, and federal laws.
All crimes committed on the grounds of the State University College at Brockport are under the jurisdiction of the Department of University Police.
Enforces all laws and campus regulations, takes appropriate action for all unlawful acts on campus and investigates all crimes committed on the grounds of the State University College at Brockport. Performs periodic tours of grounds to ascertain the physical security of campus residential halls and buildings and restricts unauthorized personnel from using campus facilities. Investigates all accidents and makes appropriate recommendations to eliminate recurrences. Serves as a source of information and assistance to all visitors, residents, and employees of the College. Implements action and coordinates efforts for all emergencies on campus. Enforces all traffic regulations on campus.
The Department of University Police is located on the ground level of Lathrop Hall. Twenty-four hour coverage is provided by both desk and patrol officers.
University Police may be reached by calling 395-2222 (Emergencies) or 395-2226 (Non-Emergencies).
The speed limit in the parking lots is 15 mph.
It is the responsibility of the owner of the registered vehicle to see that other drivers of his/her vehicle know and adhere to all campus traffic and parking regulations.
If a bomb threat is received by telephone, it is imperative that the individual receiving the call STAY CALM. Do not panic. Treat the call as routine and attempt to obtain the following information:
Try to maintain a conversational attitude with the person calling in the bomb threat. Listen very carefully for unique uses of words or tones of voice.
If the Caller hangs up, put the line on hold or lay the receiver down if you do not have a hold button. Do not hang up the phone. Go immediately to another phone and call University Police at 395-2222. Do not use the "Bomb Threat" phone until it has been cleared by University Police.
