Important Workshop Notice

On August 24, 2005, the Institute in partnership with the New York Regional Community Policing Institute:Western Satellite will host a one-day workshop with two exciting and timely topics.  The morning session will address "Sex Offenders: CJ System and Community Concerns," and the Afternoon "Managing the Generation X & Y Employee."  This workshop is being held at Genesee Community College, The Best Center, in Batavia, New York.  For conference information and to register, call The Best Center at 585-345-6890  There is a $10.00 fee to cover refreshments.  Speakers and other costs are paid by the Institute.  Region I Council of Probation Administrators (COPA) is a collaborating partner and assistance was received from the WNY Chiefs of Police Association.

 

May 2004.  Institute staff member Richard Lumb presented at the Race and Reconciliation Conference sponsored by the Commission on Citizen Rights and Human Relations in Buffalo. The Panel discussed "Community Policing as a Strategy to Deal with Youth & Gang Violence ."

August 2004.  The Institute for Leadership Development in partnership with the Council of Probation Administrators held a Summer Conference at SUNY Brockport.  The theme of the workshop was "Enhancing Law Enforcement & Community Corrections Partnerships."  Sessions were attended by police, probation, parole and other criminal justice agency personnel.

November 2004.  Institute staff presented "Use of Force for CEO's" in Syracuse for the NY Regional Community Policing Institute and the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services.

November 2004.  Institute staff presented "Images of Collaboration: Developing Multi-Agency Strategies" at the NYS Division of Probation & Correctional Alternatives Statewide Symposium.  The theme of the symposium was Probation’s Impact on Crime Through Collaboration, Experience and Innovation.

February 26, 2005The ILD provided "Leadership and Integrity in an Era of Organizational Change" to the Williamsville Fire Department in Amherst.

March 2005. The ILD and SUNY Brockport's Institute for Public Safety Policy Studies (IPSPS) is assisting the Council of Probation Directors of Western New York to plan for a Fall Partnership Conference that will bring Probation, Parole, Police, Academicians and others together to discuss collaboration and cooperation among agencies and receive updates from national speakers on "What Works" in policing and community corrections.  A partnership with the National Resource Center for Police-Corrections Partnerships at Sam Houston State University is being finalized at this time.  Over 200 participants will be invited to attend this three-day event.  Additional Information will be released in the near future.

March 26, 2005.  The ILD provided "Leadership and Integrity in an Era of Organizational Change" to the East Amherst Fire Department in Amherst.

April 7, 2005Richard Lumb presented an update of the ILD training program and the new technical assistance services available from Institute to the Monroe County Law Enforcement Council.  SUNY Brockport is reaching out to that group with available services and training.
