Once you have successfully entered the United States, you must report to campus. We strongly encourage all international students to arrange their schedules in order to participate in the International Student Orientation.
If you are planning to arrive on the dates specified by the Office for International Student Services, then transportation from Rochester International Airport will be provided. Otherwise, you will need to arrange for your own transportation to the campus. Also, we ask that you do not plan to arrive on a Saturday or Sunday, if possible, as most campus facilities, including the Office for International Student Services, will be closed.
The easiest way to get to Brockport is to first arrive in Rochester, N.Y., whether it be by plane, train or bus. If flying, try to reserve a flight that arrives directly at the Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC). There are also trains and buses from many major cities that make daily trips to Rochester.
Once you have arrived in Rochester, N.Y., you must still travel to Brockport. The SUNY - Brockport campus is located approximately 16 miles (25 km) west of the city of Rochester.
If you have not already made arrangements with the University, the easiest way to get to campus is by taxi. This will cost approximately US $60 plus a 15 percent tip (US $7 to $8). After you have picked up your luggage at the baggage claim area (or have retrieved it from the train or bus you arrived on), call for a taxi at (585) 235-7777 (If you have trouble, please visit an information desk for help). Tell the taxi driver that you are a student and you need to go to the State University of New York - Brockport campus. Once the taxi has picked you up, tell the driver again that you are going to the State University of New York - Brockport campus and indicate which residence hall or off-campus apartment you are scheduled to live in.
