Program Goals:
Applied Research - Technical
Assistance
Our goal is to establish an applied research approach
to organization and community problems. This will enhance
solicitation of projects, programs, and problem- solving
endeavors of public safety agencies as they relate to agency
issues and needs.
Problem-Solving applications Model
To apply the problem-solving model to agency,
community and neighborhood needs, including issues of crime,
violence, substance abuse, and incivilities with the goal
of improving the quality of life for citizens. Internal
needs of public safety agencies fall under this general
category and include a broad variety of organizational needs.
Consortium Focus Model
To develop a consortium consisting of other college
and university faculty whose expertise and interests lie
within the mission of the Institute. In recent years, the
Federal Government has mandated a more inclusive approach
to funding, one that encourages collaboration, cooperation,
and partnerships across agencies and disciplines. The consortium
model fits this mandate and strengthens our position for
future funding. This posture allows the Institute to offer
a broader array of services to agencies and their respective
communities.
