Frequently Asked Questions with the ConnectR Add-in

Last Edited: 2/13/09

Q:  Why do my distribution lists or groups not synchronize with the ConnectR Add-in?

A:  Distribution Lists or Groups between Outlook and webmail do not synchronize by design.  A request for enhancement has been issued to Mirapoint on including this type of functionality into the ConnectR Add-in.

Q:  Why do I get a notification that ConnectR has timed out or disabled itself?

A:  Either a connection from the client to the server has been disconnected.  Please contact the Help Desk so we can submit a ticket for this to carefully review the problem.  If ConnectR has disabled itself there can be a third party application causing it to crash when using Microsoft Outlook.  Generally other Outlook Add-in’s can cause this to happen.  Try referencing the document called “Re-enabling the ConnectR Add-in for Microsoft Outlook”.

Q:  Why does ConnectR tell me it had conflicts during synchronization and then prompted me with a window?

A:  Due to real-time synchronization it is possible that an event was changed at the same time and the server doesn’t know which event change should win.  Carefully review which event looks correct and select the left or right to win in that case.  A request for enhancement has been submitted to Mirapoint to make this window user friendly.

Q:  When I try to do a manual synchronization the option under Tools to “Synchronize Using ConnectR” is not there.  How do I get this option back?

A:  ConnectR has disabled itself or is no longer installed.  This can happen for a few reasons.  Please find the documentation on “Re-enabling the ConnectR Add-in for Microsoft Outlook”.  If that doesn’t fix your problem please contact the Help Desk for further assistance.

Q:  Why do I keep getting an authentication window prompting me to enter my credentials every few minutes for the ConnectR Add-in when I have already selected it to remember my password?

A:  This is a known issue and is currently being worked on by LITS and our vendor Mirapoint.  For the time please re-enter your credentials every time this window pops up.

Q:  How come when I add a shared calendar with ConnectR in Outlook, it does not show up as a shared calendar within webmail’s interface or if I add a shared calendar within webmail’s interface it doesn’t automatically show up in Outlook?

A:  Webmail and Outlook do not synchronize what calendars have been set up as shared.  If you want to add a shared calendar to both, you will have to add it manually.
