Updating your current version of the Outlook ConnectR Add-in and configuring your Address Book Settings
Library, Information, and Technology Services (LITS) may publish a new version of the ConnectR Add-in as necessary. Once a new version of ConnectR is published on webmail you will be notified that you are running an older version when starting Outlook and will be asked to download the new version every time you re-open Outlook until you are running the latest version of ConnectR. We highly recommend that anytime you are asked to download a new version of ConnectR that you download and install the new version of ConnectR. LITS will only publish a new version of ConnectR once it has been tested and we feel it will benefit our users. Please follow the instructions below (Please note that any ConnectR Versions in the screenshot may not reflect the versions you are seeing as you go through this guide):
Click ‘Yes’ when asked “Would you like to download the new version now?”.

Click on the ‘Run’ button.

Click the ‘Run’ button when prompted with this warning (Note that depending on the internet browser you are using, you may be asked to save the file. If that is the case please double click and run the “ConnectR.msi” once downloaded).

If Outlook has not been closed yet, you will be asked to close Outlook now. Please select the ‘Yes’ button to close Outlook and continue installation of the new version of ConnectR.

Click ‘OK’ if prompted by this window.

Click ‘Next’.

This screen explains the ConnectR Add-in for Outlook 2007. Read and then click ‘Next’.

Leave this as the default install location. Click ‘Next’.

Click ‘Install’.
Click ‘Finish’ when the ConnectR Tool has been installed. You have now installed the latest version of ConnectR. Now we must configure your Address Books because the ConnectR installation creates a blank LDAP template that is not necessary.
Please Re-open Outlook and then go to ‘Tools’ à ‘Account Settings…’ à and find the ‘Address Books’ tab.
Remove the “ConnectR Connector” by highlighting it and then selecting the “X Remove” as demonstrated below:

Click ‘Yes’ when asked if you are sure you want to remove the ‘ConnectR Connector’ address book.
Then click ‘Close’ to close out of the “Account Settings” window.
Go to ‘Tools’ à ‘Address Book…’ and then within the Address Book go to ‘Tools’ à ‘Options…’

Under the “Show this address list first:” select “Brockport LDAP” or “Contacts” from the pull down list. This is important because whichever list you want to show up first when you go to the Address Book either by hitting the “To:” field in a new email composition window or by going to ‘Tools’ à ‘Address Book…’.
Then in section below “When sending mail, check names using these address lists in the following order:” highlight by selecting “ConnectR Connector” and select the ‘Remove’ (highlighted in green) button and then click ‘Apply’ (Also highlighted in green). In this same field you can move whatever address book is there up or down so when you are putting in an address in a new message it will search that address book first.

Below is the final look of what Address Book Settings LITS recommends users to use, but this can be changed based on an end-user’s preference.

Click ‘OK’ and then close out of the Address Book Window.
If you go back into ‘Tools’ à ‘Address Book…’ it will have your latest changes, see the green highlighted area below is now “Brockport LDAP” where it used to be the “ConnectR Connector”. The yellow highlighted area must be checked if you want to be able to search results using “Brockport LDAP”. If you want to search your “Contacts” list you must select the “Name Only”. What you last select for the “Name only” and “More columns”, Outlook should remember and default to “Name only” or “More columns” when you re-open the Address Book window.
