General Guide to Adobe Fireworks

Resizing an Image In Fireworks

  1. Open the image you would like to resize by going through File > New and browse to the file in the dialog box. Click Open after selecting the file.
  2. If the file you open is very large, the image may span throughout the image workspace. You can decrease the magnification (zoom out) by right clicking on the image and choosing a lower numeric value under Magnification.

  3. Click on the grey region right outside the image to get the Canvas Size, Image Size attributes in the Properties toolbar. Then click on the Image Size button.
  4. A dialog box with image attributes will appear. Make sure the Constrain proportions option is checked to maintain the width and height aspect. Now a desired value for the width or the height can be entered which will proportionately change the height or the width value respectively. You can chose to work either with Pixel dimensions or Print size fields. Click Ok when done.
