Minimum Hardware Requirements
for Desktops and Laptops

For Faculty & Staff Computers:

All computers purchased with State funds are now pre-approved by ITS prior to processing by Procurement & Payment Services. Departments and offices are strongly encouraged to order standard desktops and laptops as described in the Technology Procurement System.

For Student Computers: (updated May 5, 2008)

Many students bring laptop (or notebook) computers to campus. This allows students to take advantage of wireless network while away from the residence halls.

For new computer purchases we suggest the following as minimum configurations:
