Time to Upgrade to Internet Explorer 7
ITS is encouraging all Internet Explorer users to begin the upgrade process to Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) this summer. IE7 is the newest version of Microsoft’s Web browser and includes new security features as well as improved support for Web standards.
IE7 was used successfully in the computer labs this spring and ITS has confirmed compatibility with major campus systems including Banner, ANGEL, and WebMail.
As part of the upgrade to ANGEL 7.3 this summer, IE7 will be required for those users who navigate ANGEL with Internet Explorer. Users who have not upgraded will receive a warning message and will encounter reduced functionality until they upgrade to IE7.
How to Upgrade to IE7
Windows Vista ships with IE7. For users of Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, you can download IE7 from Microsoft's Web site. See the "Get Internet Explorer 7 for your operating system" section near the bottom of the page, and follow the instructions to download and install this update. Other Windows users will have to update their operating system or switch to Firefox.
For assistance, you can contact the ITS Help Desk at x5151 option 1.
How to Configure IE7
Users should make sure to configure the IE7 pop-up blocker to allow pop-ups from all brockport.edu sites. Follow the steps below to adjust this setting:
- Select Tools from the menu bar
