Don't miss your chance to hear our inspiring keynote speaker and connect with many members of Brockport Alumni!
Keynote Speaker: Sean Stephenson
Expected to die at birth, Sean Stephenson has faced an army of reasons to give up and countless opportunities to embrace pity. He suffered more than 200 bone fractures by age 18, reached a height of only 3 feet, and is permanently confined to a wheelchair. However, this man took a STAND for a quality of life that has inspired millions of people around the world. Come to this session to learn more about Sean’s life and that anything is possible if you get off your ‘but’ and ‘stand’! His goals for the day are:
Eliminate fears of inadequacy on an unconscious level
Provide strategies for deep interpersonal connections in professional environments
Offer tools to avoid conflicts that can arise from inaccurate assumptions
Foster a positive vision of an individual's future
Discuss questions and processes to recognize life purpose.
“Anything is possible if you get off your ‘but’ and ‘stand’!

Betsy Armes ’87; Social Worker |
|
After earning her undergraduate degree in Social Work, Betsey went on to The University at Buffalo to earn her Master’s in Social Work. For her first 5 years as a Social Worker, Betsy trained and worked in a community mental health center’s child and adolescent day treatment program. For the past 18 years, Betsy has worked as a school social worker within special education. In addition, Betsy has served as the leader of the mental health department and has been active as a workshop facilitator and staff trainer on a variety of topics. She has also earned her NYS certification for school administration. The foundation that Betsy received as a student at SUNY Brockport, in coursework, through RA training, and in learning to balance a social life with increasing academic demands, helped her to find success in both personal and professional endeavors. Today, Betsy will help you explore leadership traits that may help to increase your successes in any setting. |
