Who's Who among Students in American Colleges and Universities

The deadline to apply for this award is Monday, December 10th at midnight.

We are encouraging every student who meets the below minimum qualifications to apply for the 2012-2013 Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges recognition.

The minimum qualifications that a student must possess to be considered for this recognition are:

  • Undergraduate students must have completed a minimum of 54 credits (or 48 credits in Delta College) and be currently enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours.
  • Graduate students must have completed a minimum of 18 credit hours and be currently enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours.
  • Possess a minimum GPA of 2.75 for undergraduate students and 3.5 for graduate students as of August 2012.
  • Demonstrated involvement in campus or community activities while attending The College at Brockport.     
  • Students must have been enrolled at The College at Brockport for a minimum of two full semesters prior to Fall 2012.

Eligible students need to apply by midnight on Monday, December 10, 2012 by filling out the Online Application.  Please note that at the end of the application, you will need to submit a recent resume or co-curricular transcript.

SUNY Emerging Leader Award

The SUNY Emerging Leader Awards are determined each year in October. Nominations from Faculty and Staff begin in September.

The SUNY Emerging Leader Award recognizes students who have demonstrated significant leadership within their campus and/or community. This new award recognizes current emerging leaders and provides an incentive for them to continue to develop their leadership skills throughout their college career and beyond.

Nominations are sought for students who have best demonstrated their leadership based on one or more of SUNY’s six big ideas from The Power of SUNY: Strategic Plan 2010 & Beyond: entrepreneurial century, seamless education pipeline, healthier New York, energy smart New York, vibrant community, and the world.

Eligibility: Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for nomination; however, nominated students must not be in the final semester of their program. This will allow for award recipients to continue their leadership development at their current campus for at least one additional semester.

GPA Requirement: Students must have a grade point average of a 3.0 or higher to be eligible. This will allow the State University to recognize students that are committed to a high level of academic achievement.

SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence

The SUNY Chancellor's Awards are determined each year in February. The nomination process begins each December.

The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence acknowledges students who have achieved academic excellence. We seek nominations of students who have best demonstrated and been recognized for their integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives, which may include: leadership, community service, arts (creative or performing), athletics, and/or career achievement.  It is the highest honor bestowed upon a student by the University.

Eligibility

Only students graduating between June 2012 and May 2013 will be considered.  All information must be typed on the form; handwritten copies will not be accepted.  Only awards received while at current institution are applicable. (Awards from another college or high school may not be included).

Marion Schrank Student Leadership Award

The Marion Schrank Student Leadership Award is determined each year in March. The nomination process begins each January.

Criteria

  1. Undergraduate student with a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average
  2. 54 completed credit hours at the end of the Fall 2012 semester
  3. Record of exemplary leadership, scholastic achievement and a commitment to the college through leadership in an organization and/or campus employment
  4. The student is currently serving in an elected or appointed position (s) of leadership in a College at Brockport recognized club, organization or on a campus-wide committee. In the position/ s the student:
    1. Has excelled in the normal responsibilities as defined for the position(s) held or
    2. Has shown extraordinary leadership beyond the normal responsibilities defined for the positions held.
    3. Has been a leader of students involved in campus-related services or other activities (other than those listed above), which have been of significant benefit to the College and/or Brockport community.
