Linking to Databases from ANGEL

You can link many of the research articles in the Library's full-text databases directly into your website, Powerpoint presentation or ANGEL class pages. Databases now use "persistent" links, meaning each article will always have the same URL. Linking to articles rather than printing and scanning them saves time, money, and paper!

Database vendors are not consistent in their approach, but progress is being made. These directions show you how to create links from each of the Library's major research databases. For many databases, you will need to attach the Brockport "proxy" prefix to the URL provided by the research database. This allows off-campus users to connect to the article. You'll see examples below.

** Please note: Downloading documents to a website or webpage that is not password protected is in violation of federal copyright law. Using the "proxy" URL or adding "pdf" documents directly to ANGEL would be within copyright "fair use" guidelines. If you have questions, please contact Logan Rath, Digital Services Librarian, lrath@brockport.edu, 395-2568.

Click on any of the Database Names below to see how to link their articles:

ACM Portal
The articles in the Association of Computing Machinery database are available as pdf files to download. You can save the pdf document to your computer and load into ANGEL. (Please see copyright note at the top of this page).

  2. Once you click on this icon, you will be asked to review the Terms and Conditions of Use. Click "OK" to agree.
  3. Browse to the location on your local computer, disk, or network where you would like to save the image. At this time, you may also take the opportunity to rename the image, otherwise it will be automatically titled with its ARTstor Image ID.
