Trial access to ISI Citation Indexes and other products.

The Brockport community has an opportunity to “test drive” a number of important research databases from now until November 8.

This trial has been arranged with the vendor, Thomson Reuters, by the SUNYConnect consortium. It gives all SUNY and CUNY campuses access to the ISI “Web of Science” (Science Citation Index®, Social Sciences Citation Index® and the Arts & Humanities Citation Index®), as well as Medline® and Biosis Previews®.

The citation indexes can act as “meta-research” tools, providing the unique ability use citation patterns to trace the development of a research topic, the influence of a particular researcher, or the importance of a given research journal. They can also retrieve lists of journal publications by a particular individual or originating from a particular campus and determine how often a particular author or publication has been cited by others.
