Get Involved

Whether you want to get to know other students that share your interests, make new friends or get to know faculty and staff, there are many ways for you to get involved at Brockport.

Here are just some of the opportunities available to you:

Athletics

Choose from 12 women’s and 11 men’s teams. All teams are affiliated with the National Collegiate Association (NCAA), with the exception of the gymnastics team, which participates in the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA).

Brockport Student Government (BSG)

BSG works to represent and advocate for the student population by serving on all College and departmental committees. There are more than 70 clubs and organizations sponsored and funded by BSG. BSG provides funding for intramural and club sports, the University Police escort service, and much more.

Community Development

The Office of Leadership and Community Development collaborates with campus organizations and departments, national nonprofit organizations, and other groups whose missions intersect to provide community service opportunities. These collaborations further advance the College's goal of fostering an environment of engaged citizens in service to their communities.

Health Promotions

The Student Health Center sponsors campus-wide health education events and workshops that promote positive decision making and healthy lifestyle choices. Student Health advocates and members of Student Striving to Educate Peers (SSTEP) assist professional staff in developing awareness campaigns, workshops, and evening residence hall programs. Some of the programs provided by Health Promotions are CONNECT: Alcohol, Drug and Violence Prevention and Education; BodyWISE Healthy Lifestyle Program ; Smoking Cessation (one-on-one counseling); Health Fairs, Stress-Free Zones; and Sexual Responsibility Week.

Leadership Development Program

Over 50 staff, faculty and students work together on this program, which aims to prepare students for success after college as leaders in our community. 

Recreational Services

Participate in intramural and club sports, fitness and wellness programs, and work with a personal trainer.

ROTC (Army Reserve Officer Training Corps)

ROTC goes beyond the classroom to develop skills to be a successful leader, in the military or in the boardroom. Learn more about ROTC Opportunities and Benefits.

The Stylus (College newspaper)

Distributed on- and off campus, The Stylus provides news for students, faculty and staff and the community. Students can get involved with the newspaper as a reporter or photographer.

Women’s Center

The Women’s Center runs and sponsors programs aimed at raising awareness of women’s experiences, including the Brown Bag Luncheon Series and the Clothesline Project

89.1 The Point/WBSU-FM (College radio station)

the Point

The Point has won numerous awards from National Association of Collegiate Broadcasters and College Broadcasters Inc. We're involved annually in several fund-raising and public service ventures, including Coats for Kids. There are opportunities for on-air talent, promotions, news and much more.
