FileBrowser - Configuration and Installation

Overview

FileBrowser is an app for iOS devices which may be used to access and/or update files within the File City and File City 2 web services. This documentation will show steps on how to install the app for File City and File City 2.

NOTE: You can click the screenshot images to see them in larger view.

Installation

File City:

1) Once the app has been installed and downloaded open the app and you will receive this screen. If you would prefer to close the dark blue boxes simply tap them. Also tap “Continue” on the box in the center of the page.

2) Tap the 'Action' button at the bottom and tap “Download from URL” in menu.

3) Type in this link exactly (case sensitive) and tap “Download”: Http://brockport.edu/q/HQG

4) Tap on the file context menu to the right of HQG.

5) Tap “Rename” from the menu.

6) Append .filebrowser to the end of HQG and tap “Rename”.

Notice the name of the file has now changed.

7) Tap the “HQG.filebrowser” file and you will then get this message. Tap “Confirm”.

8) You will now see “filecity” listed on the bottom left. Tap “filecity” to connect

9) Enter win\ followed by your Brockport NetID and tap “next”, then enter your Brockport NetID password and tap “next”.

10) You will then see this message. Tap “Yes” to save your log-in credentials. If you tap “No” you will be required to enter your NetID and password each time you connect to “filecity” with this app.

11) You will now see “home” listed under “filecity”. Tap “home”.

12) You should now see your File City files listed under home. You are now able to access these files from this app.

13) Once these steps have been completed you may now delete the temporary file listed under “My Files”. Tap “My Files,” then tap the action button for “HQG.filebrowser.” Tap Delete in the list of options and then confirm by selecting Delete from the pop-up box.

File City 2:

1) Once the app has been installed and downloaded open the app and you will receive this screen. If you would prefer to close the dark blue boxes simply tap them. Also tap “Continue” on the box in the center of the page.

2) Tap the 'Action' button at the bottom and tap “Download from URL” in menu.

3) Type in this link exactly (case sensitive) and tap “Download”: Http://brockport.edu/q/rxs

4) Tap on the file context menu to the right of “rxs”.

5) Tap “Rename” from the menu.

6) Append “.filebrowser” to the end of “rxs” and tap “Rename”.

Notice the name of the file has now changed.

7) Tap the “rxs.filebrowser” file and it will then prompt you to confirm these settings. Tap “Confirm”.

8) You will now see “File City 2” listed on the bottom left. Tap “File City 2” to connect.

9) Enter win\ followed by your Brockport NetID and tap “next”, then enter your Brockport NetID password and tap “next”.

10) You will then see this message. Tap “Yes” to save your log-in credentials. If you tap “No” you will be required to enter your NetID and password each time you connect to “filecity2” with this app.

11) Tap “Main” to see a list of all the share folders you have permission to access.

12) If you have frequent shares you would like accessible before tapping “Main”, you can add them here by tapping “Add Share”.

13) Enter the exact name of the share you wish to connect to.

14) If you have the proper permissions to access this share account you should now be able to tap it and access it from this location.

15) Once these steps have been completed you may now delete the temporary file listed under “My Files”. Tap “My Files” and swipe across to the right of the “rxs.filebrowser” file and tap “Delete”.
