Using your iOS device with Brockport Wifi

Overview

This documentation provides an outline of using your iOS device on Brockport Campus Wireless.

This documentation provides steps on using the wireless connections available on the Brockport campus only. You must be on campus within range of the wireless network.

NOTE: You can click the screenshot images to see them in larger view.

Turning wifi on

1. Open settings app:

2. Tap 'Wi-Fi' from the list on the left.

3. Tap the 'slider' to turn Wifi on:

Connecting To The Network

4. Once wifi has been turned on the option to 'choose a network' should be available. All networks within range of your device should be listed. If you have connected previously to the Brockport network your device may connect automatically. Otherwise tap the Brockport network to connect.

The 'Antenna' icon shown below indicates you are connected to a Wifi network:

Please note: The antenna icon alone only indicates a connection to the network. Being logged onto the network for internet access requires additional steps. Follow the steps 'Logging onto the Network' to verify a complete connection to the Brockport Network.

Logging onto the Network

The Brockport Network requires a login with NetID and password via your web browser after connecting to the wireless. Depending on the location on campus (each building is slightly different) you may be prompted for this login at initial connection, or not.

Drake Memorial Library:

Shown below is the login screen for the campus Library wireless connection. This login screen for this location must be accessed via your web browser.

Other Buildings on campus:

Most other buildings on campus will have the following login screen, with possible small differences between the buildings. This login screen will auto prompt at initial connection in some locations, and in others will require browser login.

Verifying connection to the Brockport Network:

If you are not prompted for login at initial connection please open safari on your device. Safari may automatically connect you to the wireless login page. If it does not type “Http://www.brockport.edu” in the address bar and it should redirect you to the wireless login page.

If you open safari and your home page loads without a wireless login prompt then you are already logged in.

Note: After a long period of no activity on the network the network will logout but still appear to be connected with the “Antenna” icon. This may cause app functions to time out, or fail. In this case you would need to re-login to the network.

The best way to be sure you still have internet access is to load your browser and see if your home page is loading.

Removing a wireless profile

Note: Once you have connected to a network your device will remember that network for auto connection whenever the network is within wireless range. If at any time your device is not recognizing, or connecting to the Brockport network try to remove this profile and reconnect using the steps below.

1. Open the 'Settings' app:

2. Tap 'Wi-Fi' from the list on the left.

3. Tap the 'Brockport' network:

4. Tap 'Forget this Network' then Tap 'Wi-Fi' to return to the list:

6. Tap the 'Brockport' Network to reconnect:
