Original library materials may be returned at any time during this period, in good condition, without any penalties.
  • Library reserve materials that are not returned when due, will result in a $10.00 per hour fine patron's account immediately, resulting in a block of all further borrowing privileges. The block will be lifted, without further penalty, when the item(s) is returned.
  • Interlibrary loan materials that are returned late may result in a fine, if that is the policy of the lending institution. Failure to return Interlibrary loan materials may also result in a block on the patron’s account.
  • If the item(s) has not been return at the end of 6 weeks after the due date, the patron will be billed for each overdue item as set forth in the table below, sent via USPS. The patron will also be blocked in the Banner system, which means he/she may be unable to request transcripts, receive final grades or register for classes. Patrons will have four weeks from the date of the letter to contact the library, either to return the original library materials in good condition, in which case there will be no penalties, or to report the loss of the materials and make arrangement to pay for them.
  • Patrons may return only Drake library materials, not replacements purchased elsewhere, without prior authorization of the library director or director’s designee.
  • If the item(s) have not been returned within four weeks of the date of the billing letter, the information will be sent to a Collection Agency. If an account is turned over to the Collection Agency, the patron will be responsible for all additional fees and penalties added by the Agency.
