Educational Technology Center

The purpose of the Educational Technology Center is to provide instruction, guidance, and facilities to support the enhancement of the learning experience through the creation of audio, video, graphics, and web-based content to further The College at Brockport's mission of student success.

Hours:

  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - Midnight
  • Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
  • Saturday: Closed
  • Sunday: 4:00pm - Midnight

Tech Tuesdays 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Join us on Tech Tuesdays to receive assistance and training on Audio/Video production, editing, and distribution using software such as iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Windows Movie Maker, Garage Band, Audacity, and Pinnacle Studio. Tech Tuesdays are also a great time to explore the latest Web 2.0 emerging technologies such as Wikis, Blogs, and the latest tools from Google.

Web Wednesdays 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Join us on Web Wednesdays to receive assistance on web design on both the Mac and PC platforms using software including iWeb, Dreamweaver, and more. Additionally learn more about using Web technology such as iTunes U, YouTube and others for sharing multimedia content.

Offerings:

  • Walk-in Support
    The ETC will provide expanded walk-in support for faculty, staff and students to address their educational technology needs. Modeled after the on-demand training hours currently provided in CELT, professional staff will be available throughout the day to work with users. Located in proximity to the Help Desk, the ETC will be an extension of the existing support options.
  • Development Lab
    The Development Lab will contain the latest in workstations and technology equipment to support the enhancement of the learning experience through the creation of audio, video, graphics, and web-based content. These facilities will be available for faculty, staff, and students and augment the resources currently available in the Drake Library Learning Commons.
  • Workshop and Seminar Series
    The ETC offers a wide variety of training workshops that focus on the use of Learning Systems and educational technology. Additionally, the ETC will work to develop seminars and bring guest speakers on campus to discuss and explore the impact of technology on education. Workshops include:
    • Audio/Video production and editing
      • iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Windows Movie Maker, Garage Band, Audacity, Pinnacle Studio
    • Audio/Video posting and distribution
      • iTunes U, YouTube, Streaming Media
    • Web 2.0 emerging technologies
      • Wikis, Blogs, Google Docs, Google Maps
    • ANGEL Training for Students
    • Technology and Computing Best Practices
  • Consulting for Projects

    Professional staff will be available to provide guidance to faculty, staff, and students considering projects that utilize educational technology.

  • Technology User Groups
    The ETC will serve as a home for technology user groups including the Mac Users Group (MUG).
  • Future Offerings
    Additional offerings that the ETC may provide in the future as it grows:
    • Location for demoing new software and equipment.
    • Digitization resources.
    • Review and guidance on technology grants.
    • Vendor presentations.
