About LITS
Lecture capture allows instructors to create audio/video recordings of their lecture. The captured lecture is then made available to students for web-based playback.
There are several reasons to consider using lecture capture. By having a recording of your class, students can go back at anytime and review the material that was presented in class. An instructor can also use lecture capture to create supplemental material to be made available to students between lectures. This technology can assist with the implementation of online and hybrid classes, or if the instructor or student cannot attend class. Addtionally presentations can be recorded for playback at a later date.
The College at Brockport currently supports two types of lecture capture.
Camtasia Relay
Camtasia Relay software captures the instructor’s computer screen and voice. When students watch the lecture they see your recorded computer screen and your audio. Camtasia Relay is installed on some computers on campus, and is available to faculty upon request.
Fuse TechSmith Fuse is a mobile app that works with Camtasia Relay. It is easy to use; you can record videos from wherever you are and submit them to the Camtasia server where the recordings are automatically published. Requirements:

Echo360 is an appliance that is setup in the classroom to record the audio/video of a lecture and the computer. Echo360 can be programed to record at a certain time each week, or used for one-time capture. When students view the captured lecture, they will see the instructor in one screen, and the computer monitor from the lecture in another. | ![]() |
The benefits of leacture capture are numerous. Hear what others have to say and check out how Camtasia Relay and Echo360 work.
