Wireless Network Upgrade

Over the summer the LITS Networking group along with help from Brockport Telecom and Facilities staff working with ECC Technologies network engineers will be installing new wired and wireless networking equipment on the campus and at the MetroCenter.  We will have a new network infrastructure in place before classes start in August. Work will be scheduled to minimize disruption of network service during times of summer classes and events. LITS will keep the campus community informed as to when and where service will be impacted using the Daily Eagle and the campus IT status page found at: status.brockport.edu.

More information about the overall network project, which is divided into two phases, is listed below:

Phase One (Spring/Summer 2014)

  1. Upgrade core network infrastructure (started in late April)
  2. Replace current/install new Wi-Fi access points with 802.11ac technology (started early May, to be completed beginning of August)

Phase Two (Fall 2014/Summer 2015)

  1. Determine locations on Campus that require additional Wi-Fi bandwidth/coverage
  2. Extend/Expand Wi-Fi coverage/density as needed
  3. Determine future Wi-Fi needs and plan accordingly

Again, thank you for your patience while LITS undertakes this much needed upgrade to the campus network. For connectivity issues/questions please contact the Help Desk at 395-5151 opt. 1 or at helpdesk@brockport.edu.
