Brockport Home / Living Learning Communities / Creative Artists

Creative Artists

For freshmen with an interest and ability in the creative arts!  Students in this community will have the opportunity to explore their creative side through artistic workshops and a partnership with groups like Brockport Community Orchestra, the Pep Band, and the Rock & Roll Club, which perform live throughout the year, in addition to performing in open mic nights, talent shows, and poetry slams in the hall.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a performance space in your basement? This is just one of the highlights of joining the Creative Artists - the basement studio will include a dance floor, sound and lighting equipment, drafting tables, bistro tables for writing, tack boards along the walls to display student art forms, and a separate music rehearsal space.

This community also partners with faculty in the art, dance, theatre, and creative writing departments to bring creative workshop to the residential community.

If you are looking for a place to express your creative side, this might be the community for you!

Examples of Programs include:

Students have said about the Creative Artists Community:

Being in this community really made me feel welcome and supported.

I was encouraged to keep dancing - I learned that if I have passion, I shouldn't quit.

I went to a poetry reading and learned how to view poetry from different perspectives.

The community allows me to be exposed to all sorts of artistic people and their crafts - it makes me a stronger artist.
